### Review: Topic 1

I would like everyone to review through the following workings done by your fellow schoolmates. In each case, you are required to state what went wrong and provide a solution.

QUESTIONS TO PONDER:

1. Has the student answered to the question? If not, what's wrong in the way the answer is presented?
2. Is the overall working clearly presented to demonstrate the student knows what he/she needs to find? If not, how could the working/ presentation be improved?

1. Case 1
Problem: The answer is not in index notation.
Solution: Read the question properly next time and don't make the same mistake again.

Problem: There is no presentation of answers.
Solution: Write: The factors of 8008 in index notation are ... #

Problem: There is no '#' at the back of the answer.
Solution: Put a '#' next time.

Case 4
Problem: The student put 'Ans'.
Solution: Do not put 'Ans' the next time.

Problem: There is no '#' at the back of the answer.
Solution: Put a '#' at the back of the answer next time.

Problem: The answer is not presented in index notation.
Solution: Put the answer in index notation.

Problem: The answer is not presented properly.
Solution: Indicate which number is the answer.

Problem: There is no indication of which the number is a answer.
Solution: He/She could have put a # to signify which number is the answer.

Case 4:
Problem: The answer was presented very long-winded.
Solution: He/She could have just put a # sign behind the answer.

Case 5:
Problem: There was no # in the answer.
Solution: Put a # behind the answer.

9. Case 1:
Problem: The student used ",".
Solution: The student should have used "x".
Case 2:
Problem: Which is HCF or LCM.
Solution: Present it as (HCF of _ & LCM of _)
Case 3:
Problem: Did not place "x"
Solution: Should have done that
Case 4:
Problem: Very vague
Solution: Specify whose factors are those
Case 5:
Problem: is it HCF or LCM
Solution: present correctly

10. Case 1: The answer should be in index notation.

12. Case 1
Problem: The student did not only take the prime factors on the left of the list but instead the students also took the factor on the right which is not a prime number
Solution: The student must take the factor on the left as it is a prime number .
Case 2
Problems: Although the student had completed his working and that is his/her final answer , the student did not leave a # at the end of the answer the student gave .
Solution: The student should have done that to show that that is the answer or else the teachers could mistake it as half done
Case 3
Problem: There should not have been the bracket for 5x7.
Solution: The Student should have wrote the equation out without the bracket
Case 4
Problem: The student should have simplified the answer without the bracket and the student need not put the Ans
Solution: Simplify the answer and instead of Ans just put a #
Case 5
Problem: The student underlined the answer which is supposed to be a #
Solution: Just leave a # instead of underlining.

13. Case 1:
-The student did not draw the bottom of the L and workings are not written clearly.

Case 2:
-The answer is not in index notation.

Case 3:
-The presentation of the answer has no x in between the 3 2 and the 5x7

Case 4:
-answer presentation is wrong . it should be in index notation.

Case 5:
-working presentation is incorrect base of L should not protrude out.

14. Case 1:
Problem-Student's presentation of 'L' format is wrong. Answer is not in index notation and working is messy.
Solution- Write neatly and do read the question properly. Also, Draw the 'L' format properly.

Case 2:
Problem- Did not state the answer.
Solution- State answer next time with a hashtag.

Case 3:
Problem-Did not show where is the answer.

Case 4:
Problem- Answer should be in index notation and he should use hashtag to save time.
Solution- Take away the brackets and use hashtag instead.

Case 5:
Problem- Should use hashtags.

15. Case 1:
Problem:Answer is not in index notation and 'L' format is not correct.
Solution:The 'L' format should be shown correctly and answer must be in index notation.

Case 2:
Problem:There is no presentation of answer.
Solution:Answer should be shown clearly with a hashtag.

Case 3:
Problem:There is no hashtag to show that,that is the answer.
Solution:He should put a hashtag at the back of his answer.

Case 4:
Problem:He should not present his answer as Ans:....
Solution:He should put a hashtag behind his answer and not Ans:...

Case 5:
Solution:He should put a hashtag behind the answer instead of underlining it.

16. Case 1
Problem: the student did not use index notation as part of his number statement
Solution:after the student write down the repeated division working, he should pen down the index notation.

Problem:The presentation of the answer is not very clear
Solution: Underline the answer or put a hash tag at the end of the answer to show it

Case 3
Problem:The index notation was not written properly as there is a missing mutiplication sign between the 3 to the power of 2 and the bracket.
Solution: Write a mutiplication sign there to show that is is multiplying.

problem:The student used " ans " to represent the answer

Problem: The representation of the answer is wrong as the line may mean that is is a clue or something
Solution: Use hash tag to represent all the answer

17. Case 1: The student did not draw the L properly and did not have a answer (no #)

Solution: Instead of placing an "ANS", put a # under the answer

20. Case 1:
Problem: The L method is not drawn properly.He did not answer in index notation.
Solution: Draw the L method properly and answer in index notation.

Case 2:
Problem: Did not state the answer.
Solution: Mark the answer using a hashtag.

Case 3
Problem:Did not state which is the answer.
Solution: Put a hashtag next to the answer

Case 4:
Solution:Use a hashtag.

Case 5:
Problem:There isn't a hashtag and the prime factors should be in ascending order.
Solution:Use a hashtag and arrange the primes correctly.

21. Case 1:
Problem: Student did not express answer in index notation.
Solution: Express answer in index notation.

Case 2:
Problem: Student did not provide his final answer after working it out.
Solution: Put a hashtag(#) to indicate that it is the final answer.
